Profile - Dewa Mavhinga

Dewa Mavhinga is a human rights lawyer and activist currently working as
Regional Coordinator for Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition based in South
Africa. Dewa holds a bachelor of laws - honours degree from the University
of Zimbabwe and a masters in international human rights law from Essex
University in the UK. Dewa has previously worked with Human Rights Watch
(London) in the Africa Division as a Researcher on Zimbabwe. He has
researched extensively on the human rights situation in Zimbabwe and has
lobbied at the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the African
Union and the United Nations Human Rights Council level for the
improvement of human rights and democracy conditions in the country. In
November 2011 Dewa testified before the United States Congress in
Washington D.C on the U.S policy towards Zimbabwe.
Dewa is married to Fiona and the two have two daughters - Gamuchirai and
Mufaro.
